A fifth grade pupil in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to hold out a mass shooting, authorities mentioned.
In a press release Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office stated it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a student at an elementary faculty.
It said its native school risk enforcement team was instantly notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written menace to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's workplace said.
In video shared by authorities, the boy might be seen being led into a police car.
“This student’s habits is sickening, especially after the latest tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in a statement, noting that the risk came just days after the lethal school capturing at Robb Elementary Faculty left 19 students and two teachers dead.
“Proper now will not be the time to behave like a bit of delinquent. It’s not funny,” he mentioned. “This child made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”
