BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to participate in a mass school taking pictures that might have included a bombing at Berkeley High Faculty, police say. 

The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department stated in a press launch. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no college that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing destructive device materials and threatening to commit against the law which will lead to dying or great bodily damage.

Police stated they acquired a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a taking pictures that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police did not say if the teenager was a pupil at Berkeley High Faculty.

Upon executing the search warrant, police said they found components to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and digital gadgets that might be used to create further weapons. 

At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teenager's arrest.

"College safety remains a high priority for the department," police stated in a press release. 

Details on whom the teen was trying to recruit weren't disclosed. Police stated this case stays beneath investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens advised the varsity's group that the district was in shut contact with police throughout this investigation. 

After police confiscated the teenager's weapon elements, the district relied on police expertise to evaluate any potential ongoing risk to its colleges. The district communicated with police on the scholar's whereabouts. 

"As added precautions throughout this period, we alerted our administrative and security workers about this investigation and, as is our customary follow, maintained close contact with our BPD Faculty Useful resource Officer on the Berkeley High Faculty campus," Stephens wrote. "Throughout the investigation period, we have been assured that this individual did not pose a direct risk to the Berkeley Excessive Faculty neighborhood."

The district is conducting their very own investigation on this matter. 

The district might pursue disciplinary motion in opposition to the student. 

In addition, a city hall meeting titled: ' Speak to Children About College Violence' offered by Alameda County Workplace of Training is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
