Talking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going forward until I feel higher concerning the direction of our country."

I wish that I may have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied with your nation, you let or not it's known through protest. The home of the courageous ought to encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action towards gun violence in the USA.

Kerr refused to speak about basketball ahead of Sport 4 of the Warriors' series in opposition to the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute raising his voice as he railed against gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's capturing.
