Apple has discontinued the iPod, 20 years after it was launched.
The US tech giant stated its iconic music participant has been replaced by other devices, making the iPod redundant.
Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide advertising and marketing, stated: "At this time, the spirit of iPod lives on.
"We have built-in an incredible music expertise across all of our products, from the iPhone to the Apple Watch to HomePod mini, and throughout Mac, iPad, and Apple TV.
"And Apple Music delivers industry-leading sound high quality with assist for spatial audio - there is not any higher option to take pleasure in, discover, and experience music."
In October 2001, Steve Jobs debuted the unique iPod and it was the first MP3 participant that could maintain 1,000 songs and had a 10-hour battery life.
"With iPod, Apple has invented a complete new class of digital music participant that lets you put your complete music collection in your pocket and take heed to it wherever you go," he said at the time.
"With iPod, listening to music will never be the identical again."
Related MP3 players released by Microsoft and Sony did not have the same success as the iPod.
Apple has released 5 variations of its music player - the Traditional, Contact, Shuffle, Mini and Nano.
The corporate has been slowly killing its iPod vary in recent years, with mobile phone know-how enabling clients to listen to music providers on their telephones.
In 2014, the basic click on wheel mannequin was discontinued, and the Shuffle and Nano had been killed off three years later.
The seventh-generation iPod contact was the only mannequin still on sale at present.
