Talking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going forward till I feel higher in regards to the route of our nation."

In a weblog submit, Kapler questioned whether or not the nation's leadership is dedicated to representing its people's greatest interests and whether the USA is actually "the land of the free and the home of the brave."

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the lack of supply of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied with your country, you let or not it's known by way of protest. The home of the brave ought to encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion in opposition to gun violence in the US.

Kerr refused to speak about basketball forward of Sport 4 of the Warriors' sequence in opposition to the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute elevating his voice as he railed towards gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's taking pictures.
